What is Branding vs a logo?
Are you starting a new business and a little unsure of where to start? I know many think starting a new business means they simply need a “logo”. But We need to reframe this thinking to understand, that we’re operating in the world of branding.

Branding is how your brand makes people feel and making the right people feel welcome and qualifying they’re in the right place. Branding is less about the logo, colour schemes (although these are important) and more about the messaging.
How to Create a Brand
Branding is how your brand makes people feel and making the right people feel welcome and qualifying they’re in the right place. Branding is less about the logo, colour schemes (although these are important) and more about the messaging.
When starting your branding – think of the messaging that you’ll be putting out consistently. Think about how you’re communicating with people; what is your personality and brand tone? Creating a strong brand personality is important to make identifiable. Brand personalities look different if you’re a personal brand or a brand name. If you’re a personal brand, you’re the personality, whereas a brand name often leans on others for personality, ie influencer marketing.
When developing a brand, it’s often scary to think about how you’re going to talk about more than your products or service. What I’d suggest you do is create 5 pillars (The JK 5) of your brand (and remember these can change and evolve). Of these pillars, only one is for a selling point. As such When planning out content and messaging think about your 5 pillars: where they’re positioned in an overarching campaign of today, this month, and this year. Cycle through your pillars so that your brand is recognisable and consistent.
When writing your message think of the ways you’re showing up or the place you’re sending them on the internet and how are you illustrating to potential clients you’re the right fit for each other. Remember if branding is done well it can evolve, you are the gatekeeper of your brand.
