Samil Fibers – Content Creation
Content Creations and Crafters Series. This shoot couldn’t have come at a better time, during the South African lockdown, where we could not leave our homes. This shoot allowed me to both work and play – a content creators dream!
This shoot was a shoot where creativity could flourish, and flourish in a time of slowness – during South Africa’s lockdown.
I met with Samil’s marketer days before the lockdown was set to happen. We met in the parking lot of a restaurant where she gave me a huge box of products – it did feel a bit dodgy doing the exchange in a parking lot. But with the bans of meeting in places due to COVID-19, we could only meet up in an open public space. Once I got the box, I waited until I got home to open it – the anticipation had been eating at me the whole car ride home.
I am a passionate home crafter, I love creating, and creating pieces that I can put up in our home. As such, this was a dream client of mine, natural fibers for me to let my inner crafter go wild. And it couldn’t have come at a better time too, as I knew it meant that I would be stocked up on supplies for the lockdown.
With their beautiful fibers, I had endless fun; I learned to knit, I created a Karoo inspired tapestry wall hanger and a citrus-inspired embroidery round.
